McIntyre was found with gunshot wounds to the head and neck according to officials. A 14-year-old girl has since been arrested and charged in connection.

It is more than 20 years since I discovered in my 50s that I have a copy of the gene, ApoE4, that has been linked to a raised risk of Alzheimer's. It's the same gene that the actor Chris Hemsworth carries, although he has two copies, one from each of his parents - he learned this in 2022 after having tests for a documentary series he was making about longevity. Now comes news of a major study that has found that almost everyone who has two copies of this gene goes on to develop early signs of Alzheimer's. Researchers at the Sant Pau Research Institute in Barcelona looked at data from 10,000 people and 3,000 brain donors and found that the majority of those with two copies showed signs of Alzheimer's by the time they reached the age of 55. The researchers estimate that around 2 per cent of people have this gene profile.

The family of the Texas lawyer Jeffrey Limmer, 46, who was shot and killed at a McDonald's in Houston said that they weren't surprised that he stood up for the 'little guy.' On Saturday at 6pm, Limmer decided to step in as an angry customer yelled at McDonald's employees. That customer then got into a confrontation with Limmer and shot him twice before he fled the scene. Cops are still hunting the unidentified suspect.

A Texas man appeared on Antiques Roadshow in 2012 with a painting that had been in his family for generations - and was shocked when it became the most expensive painting ever appraised on the show. The artwork was identified as 'El Albañil,' an early work of prominent Mexican painter Diego Rivera, created when he was just 18 years old. A mother who splurged $400 on her child's birthday party was left furious after none of the invited guests showed up - including family members. Anber, from Las Vegas, had paid for catering, snacks, a bounce house and  decorations for her daughter's birthday party at their home in April, but the mother-of-five took to TikTok to slam the guests for 'not bothering' to make an appearance. Pastor John-Paul Miller, 44, was released from his duties at Solid Rock at Market Common Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina following the suicide of his wife Mica Miller. The flight, operated by American postal service FedEx, took off from Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport early this morning and was headed for Istanbul when the pilot realised the landing gear was malfunctioning. Shocking footage showed the moment the plane attempted an emergency landing, smashing down into the runway and scraping its nose along the concrete. Sparks flew from the plane's tattered fuselage as it crunched along the tarmac with smoke billowing from behind. Fortunately, firefighters and rescue teams were already waiting at the scene, with Turkey's transport ministry having dispatched emergency teams as soon as it learned that the pilot's landing gear was not working.

The winner of the Orange County marathon in California was disqualified for accepting water during the race. Esteban Prado's father noticed his son was thirsty and decided to bike alongside him to hand him water.
